Amanda Beaumont is the lead teacher of Akins' Social Behavioral Skills Program.The goal of SBS services is to provide a full continuum of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral support to students who have been identified with significant social/emotional needs. The Social Behavior Skills program teaches mastery of self-regulation to promote student independence in order to be productive members of society.
This is Ms. Beaumont's 10th year teaching. She is passionate about social justice, restorative practices, and social emotional learning. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Social Science from Towson University. Ms. Beaumont is also the secretary for Akins' Campus Advisory Council.
Ms.Beaumont is a 9th generation native of Baltimore who moved to Austin in 2008. She is the mother of 4 boys and enjoys traveling with her family during the summers. She has visited 47 states and 17 countries. When she isn't teaching or spending time with her family, Ms.Beaumont likes to watch baseball, make photographs, and read.
