Welcome to Akins High School.

Back in the day, I received both my Bachelor and Master's degrees from The Ohio State University. My Bachelor Degree is in Social Studies Education and my Master's Degree is in Political Science. I have had the privilege of meeting many government leaders and individuals that have had an impact in our country's history and in creating government policies.I hope to continue to inspire students as they learn more about our country's history and our many policies.

For the 2021-2022 school year, I will be teaching Senior U. S. Government and AP U.S. Government. The AP course is using college level materials and the students will experience high rigor instruction with high expectations. This course will provide the student with academic lessons that will prepare them for the AP exam that are held in the spring. Passage of this exam will earn the student college credit so it is imperative to learn the various skills and information throughout the school year in order to be successful on the exam.

AP Government and U.S. Government are senior level courses and students will develop their understanding of how our government operates. By applying multiple project based assignments, students will also become familiar on ways they can be an active participant in the formation of our government policies. It is an exciting year to teach these courses.

I look forward to working with the students and parents during this school year. Please feel free to contact me by email or by calling my room phone.
