Bienvenidos! I am Mrs. Maudlin and I teach Spanish 1, 2, and 3. I love teaching at Akins High School!
I sponsor Spanish Club which is open to any Akins student so please join us twice a month to learn how to read Spanish recipes and prepare regional food!
Most summers I will be taking Akins students on an educational tour of a Spanish speaking country! Our next trip is to Puerto Rico in June 2019. Please email me for enrollment information!

Background Info: I grew up in San Antonio,Texas and moved to Austin where I graduated from the University of Texas in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Radio-TV-Film. I worked in the multimedia industry for a few years and got a taste for teaching by working with Austin-based non-profit Latinitas. In Latinitas I developed programs that taught media skills to young girls in after-school programs throughout Austin. While working with Latinitas I quickly learned the need to be more fluent in Spanish. I went to St. Edward's University in 2009 to pursue a Master of Arts in Teaching and certification to teach Spanish. I started my teaching career at Akins and I have loved every minute of it! I have been teaching Spanish at Akins since 2012. I have also been an active officer in our PTSA and the Spanish Club Sponsor.
COSTA RICA 2016!
Our trip to Costa Rica in June was an amazing experience! Myself and fellow Spanish teacher Ms. DePaz took 11 Akins students on a 9-day educational tour of Costa Rica with EF Tours. We went zip lining, horseback riding, kayaking, and hiking through the rain forest. We studied various types of native plants and animals and enjoyed the Gallo Pinto at every meal!
