2020 AP Exam Registration

Dear Akins AP Students and Families:

Taking the Advanced Placement exams is an important part of all AP courses. W Charles Akins High School desires that all students take AP exams for the AP classes that they have taken. Scoring well on an AP exam can often earn students college credit for their high school class, saving a significant amount on tuition.

For the 2020 AP exams, students at W Charles Akins High School will be registering online. This registration will take a few minutes and can be completed from any computer with internet access.

This year each AP exam costs $94.00. W Charles Akins High School desires that every student be able to take their AP exams. Students requiring financial assistance should contact Rebecca Redland-Sturzl, rebecca.redland-sturzl@austinisd.org, to learn more.

Registration/Ordering is a three-step process.  You must complete ALL of these steps to ensure that your exam will be ordered:

  1.       Register on TotalRegistration.net/AP/440349
  2.       Sign in to myap.collegeboard.org with your College Board account using the join code for each course. You must indicate that you are taking an exam by saying YES.  Your AP teacher has your join code.  Your join code will also be listed in an email from TotalRegistration.
  3.       Pay for your exams on TotalRegistration.

In order to register, students should click on the link provided on the school website or visit www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/440349 to register.  To complete registration, students must answer all of the required questions. Registration is not complete until students have printed the pdf of the confirmation page that is provided at the end. We know that parents may desire to register their students for exams. We strongly recommend that parents and students are both present while registering to ensure that the correct exams are ordered.  Please contact Rebecca Redland-Sturzl, rebecca.redland-sturzl@austinisd.org , if you would like to register for an exam not listed or if you have any questions.

W Charles Akins High School is excited to offer families the convenience of paying exam fees online at the time of registration. Please be sure to have a credit card or debit card available before beginning registration. Paying online is a great way to make sure that payment has been made.

One exam:  $90

One exam:  $15

Two exams:  $180

Two exams:  $30

Three Exams:  $235 (discount)

Three exams:  $45

Four Exams:  $280 (discount)

Four exams:  $60

Five Exams:  $325 (discount)

Five exams:  $75

 

Students and parents are responsible for paying all late order fees and cancellation fees.  Please pay close attention to deadlines to avoid additional fees. 

Here are the important dates for the registration process:

Year-long and fall courses

  •       Fri, Sep 27, 2019 at 8:00 AM - Registration
  •       Fri, Nov 1, 2019 at 5:00 PM - $40 down payment due for each regular-priced exam; $15 down payment due for 1 free/reduced lunch exam; $30 down payment due for 2+ free/reduced lunch exams
  •       Fri, Nov 1, 2019 at 5:00 PM – Registration Ends for year-long and fall courses.
  •       Thurs, Nov 14, 2019 at 5:00 PM - Last day to cancel a year-long or fall course exam without a cancellation fee of $40.00. Cancellations after this date incur a $40.00 per exam fee. (You must cancel your exam on TotalRegistration AND myap.)
  •       Fri, Nov 15, 2019 at 8:00 AM - Registrations for late orders will incur a $40 late fee per exam.
  •       Fri, March 6, 2020 at 5:00 PM – all AP exam payments should be paid in full through TotalRegistration.

 

Spring courses

  • Wed, Jan 8, 2020 at 8:00 AM – Registration Begins for spring courses only. 
  • Thurs, Mar 5, 2020 at 5:00 PM – Last day to cancel a spring course exam to avoid $40 late fee and for a full refund.
  • Fri, Mar 6, 2020 at 5:00 PM - Registration Ends.  Exams cancelled after this date incur a $40.00 per exam fee.
  •      Fri, March 6, 2020 at 5:00 PM – all AP exam payments should be paid in full through TotalRegistration.

**Students taking 4 or more AP exams will receive the additional $35 Akins subsidy, plus $45 for each additional exam.
