NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
Meeting Times: First and Third Tuesday of each Month
Akins High School’s National Honor Society is an organization that recognizes students who demonstrate scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Students with a GPA of 3.50 or higher are invited by the faculty council to apply during
the Fall semester for Juniors and Seniors.
The process for becoming an NHS member is as follows:
- Maintain a GPA of 3.5 or above until your junior year.
- Receive an invite letter from the NHS sponsor.
- Complete the application and distribute evaluation forms to teachers and sponsors.
- Interview with the faculty council.
Students who score a 15 or better on the NHS member scoring rubric will be invited to join National Honor Society. New members must participate in an Induction Ceremony to become full members.

and/or you are a junior or senior with a 3.5+ GPA, please download the application below. All applications are due October 2nd in room 262 at 4:40pm. They must be submitted in hard copy and sent digitally to firstname.lastname@example.org
