About Me

Teresa Grumbles is the AVID Coordinator and an AVID elective teacher at Akins High School. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. In 2012, she attained her Master of Education from Concordia University Portland with a focus on the inclusive classroom. In 2017, she earned her Graduate Certificate in School Librarianship from Texas Woman's University. 
She has served as an educator in AISD for 15+ years as a social studies teacher, AVID teacher and librarian. She has taught World Geography, World History, US Government, Economics, AP US Government, AP Macroeconomics, AVID 1, AVID 2, AVID 3, Student Leadership and Library Skills. This is her 8th year as a proud Akins Eagle and she currently teaches AVID 3 and AVID 4. When she's not in the classroom, she loves to watch her boys play football and basketball, spend time with family, read, scrapbook, travel and hike in the US National Parks.
