Mr. Jason Martinez is a native of Brownsville, Texas. While in Brownsville, he attended Hanna High School and was a member of the Hanna Golden Eagle Band which was a consistent qualifier of the State Marching Competition. After high school he attended Texas State University where he received his Bachelor of Music Studies. While at Texas State he was able to be mentored and taught by great educators such as Dr. Kyle Glaser, Dr. Caroline Beatty, and Dr. Mary Ellen Cavitt. During his time at Texas State he was a member of the Salsa Del Rio Salsa Band, Symphonic Winds, Wind Symphony, and Symphony Orchestra. He studied trumpet with Jack Laumer and Dr. Bob Cannon and was a semi-finalist in the National Trumpet Competition in the ensemble division in 2016 and 2017.
Mr. Martinez taught with the New Braunfels Unicorn Marching Band in 2016 and was a section leader of the Bobcat Marching Band in 2015. He marched with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 2012, 2014, and 2016, where the corps was a consistent DCI World Championship Finalist.
Mr. Martinez is excited about staying in central Texas and moving closer to the Austin area to start this new chapter in his life and is thrilled to be a part of the Akins Eagle Band Family!
