Learn More About Student Support Services (S.S.S.)
Hi, my name is Mrs. Kozel, and I am so grateful to be the School Social Worker at Akins Early College High School!
As the school Social Worker, I work in the Student Support Services office along with my amazing team of interns. Many of us need extra support in school and in life. Sometimes, we feel overwhelmed and fall behind in classes or want extra encouragement to set and meet our goals. Often problems, outside of school may bother us and affect how we do in the classroom. Student Support Services can help if you need extra help, somewhere to go to feel connected, a place to feel safe, or just need a listening ear. We are here to help YOU!
Services we offer:
*Support Groups for a range of topics including pregnancy and parenting, LGBTQ+, anger management, emotions management, grief and loss, girls empowerment, and healthy relationships
*Individual Counseling for crisis, short term, ongoing, and as needed situations
*Family meetings as necessary
*Community resource information and referrals for homelessness and housing support, substance use, insurance, outside counseling, clothing, food, transportation, and many other services
*Clothing closet and hygiene items
*School supplies and backpacks as available
All services are completely FREE, voluntary, and confidential!
Basically, our office will do everything in our power for our students. If there is anything we can do to help you, please feel free to come talk to us!
