Academic Code
According to Austin ISD board policy EIA (Local), students found to have engaged in academic dishonesty shall be subject to grade penalties on assignments or tests and disciplinary penalties in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Academic dishonesty includes cheating or copying the work of another student, plagiarism, and unauthorized communication between students during an examination. The determination that a student has engaged in academic dishonesty shall be based on the judgment of the classroom teacher or another supervising professional employee, taking into consideration written materials, observation, or information from students.
Tardy Policy
- Tardy Lock-out: Any student who is not in the classroom when the tardy bell rings will not be admitted in to class without a tardy pass. Students who are tardy will be issued lunch detention.
- Lunch Detention: Students who are tardy will wait in the hallway outside the classroom. They will be issued a detention slip that will serve as a pass into class. Late students will only be admitted with a pass. Detention will be served during lunch the following day. Sack lunches will be provided.
- Data Entry: An “unexcused tardy” will be entered for students for the corresponding period. A sign-in sheet will be used to check attendance during detention. Students who attend lunch detention will have an “unexcused tardy” changed to an “excused tardy.”
*Any student who is more than 5 minutes tardy should be issued a tardy slip and sent to class. However, their original tardy slip will have a teacher notation and sent to the A.P. for further discipline consequences.
*Any student who arrives to class a significant amount who arrives to class a significant amount of time after the time indicated on the tardy slip should be admitted to class and then referred to the appropriate AP via e-mail or yellow tardy slip to A.P. with notation.
*Teachers should confirm that Name and ID information is correct on tardy slips. The students who present the false information should be admitted to class and then referred to the appropriate A.P. via e-mail or yellow slip with notation.
- Detention no-show consequences: Students who accrue three ot more unexcused tardies within one week, will be issued further consequences by the designated Assistant Principal. Students who show a habitual pattern of tardiness will face more serious discipline consequences.
